Little known Aaron Lyons (3 – 0 2ko’s) came to Philly from Gulfport, MS and extinguished the flame of red hot prospect Joey Abell (9 – 1 9ko’s) scoring a shocking knockout at 1:07 of the first round. It was supposed to be a cakewalk for Abell who came into the bout winning all nine of his professional contests via early knockout. Lyons got inside early and rocked the big lumberjack with a big right hand which sent Abell into the corner. For a split second, Lyons seemed surprised with the result of his big punch but quickly snapped out of it and went in to polish off a dazed Abell. Referee Hurley McCall stepped in right away to stop the contest and save Abell from further punishment. Hell almost broke loose soon after. Some feel it was an early hook, others say it is legit. Everyone says Abell was going to hit the canvas at the very least had it been allowed to continue. This was a shocker to say the least and according to Blue Horizon PR director Marc Abrams the rematch is already in the works. Lyons stays undefeated at 3 – 0 2ko’s and more importantly will go down in Philly boxing history as the first man to stop the Philadelphia favorite.

After the fight Lyons went on to say “I kept on thinking about knocking him out in the first round and start fast and make him back up a little bit, it worked out for me.”

“I hit him with the right hand, he moved back to the ropes and I kept on punching.”

“I knew about his record and that was no big deal to me. I could land my punches just as good as he can.”

“We would come back and fight anybody”
Did you hear that Chazz Witherspoon? He said anybody!

In the Main Event, Lenny DiVictoria returned home to Philly looking to avenge his 2004 split decision loss against Steve Upshur Chambers but once again found himself on the losing side of the ledger, this time via unanimous decision. This eight round contest had plenty of action but this time it was clear that Upshur was the better fighter on this night. DiVictoria on the other hand feels robbed once again.

After the fight Chambers saud “He wanted his revenge, I gave him a chance to get it. He couldn’t do it I train to hard. I am warrior”

“I won the fight with my jab. Even though I got a lot more work to do, I won it with my jab and my heart”

“Hopefully I will fight a couple more main events here and when my brother (Eddie Chambers) ventures out I will fight on some of his undercards.”

DiVictoria on the other hand felt as if he was just pick pocketed saying “I got robbed again. He fought a good fight. Once again I thought I pulled it out, but the judges thought otherwise"

In other action

Philly’s own Paul Fernandez battled Israel’s Eylon Kedem to a draw in a high octane fight that had the crowd on its feet.

Jules Blackwell (3 – 0) cruised to a unanimous decision win over Marsay Buggs (0 – 2). This youngetser has been impressive in all of his outings and is definitely one to keep an eye on in 2007.

Kentucky’s Samuel Brown (2 – 1) realized a life long dream to get a win at the Legendary Blue Horizon as he took a unanimous decision over Camiolus Nichola (0 – 1)

The cards promoter was Vernoca L. Michaels, matchmaker was Don Elbaum.
