King Gabriel Rosado interview

Philly fight fans, you already know the name and now you have the chance to hear from “King” Gabriel Rosado, the new face of Greg Robinson’s Power Productions boxing promotion who returns to the ring March 23rd at The National Guard Armory in the Northeast. Over the past year, Rosado (6 – 1, 4ko’s) has become a local favorite and is starting to fill the seats where ever he is fighting. Fans pay to see his bang it out style and his team loves him because of his heart and willingness to take on anyone put in front of him. Catch him here in Philly while you can because before long, Team Rosado could be taking their act to a bigger stage. The Philly tough Middleweight recently took the time to sit down for an interview exclusively with Philly Keith Sports tell us about his first year as a pro, where he plans to go and what he wants to accomplish in the not too distant future.
Philly Keith: Thanks for taking the time out to talk, I appreciate it.
Gabriel Rosado: No Problem, thanks for having me
PK: Congratulations on your last win, you looked really good in your last fight scoring a first round knockout, how did you prepare you that fight?
GR: For my last fight, I switched trainers after the lose. I was a tough decision, but from a business standpoint, I felt it was the best move for me. I am training with Greg Robinson and Tim Witherspoon now. But as far as changes or preparation, I would say we worked mostly on my defense, catching punching and on my movement, or not moving as much actually. Sitting in the pocket, being patient and taking what is given to me. I do also want to take a moment to thank my previous trainer, Billy Briscoe. I owe Billy a lot. He started me in this game, and I am forever grateful, thank You Billy.
PK: Your next fight is coming up soon what is your game plan?
GR: It depends on who they get to fight me, the original guy who was scheduled got hurt so we are looking to find another person to fight.
PK: Anyone in particular you want to fight?
GR: To me it doesn’t matter who they put in front of me, I just want to fight, it don’t matter who it is. My Manager, Ty, does all that, so you’d have to talk to him about that, I don’t get involved with that, I just train and let him do the managing.
PK: How did you get into boxing? Do you have any amateur experience?
GR: Boxing was something that I always loved. I got into a couple of fights on the street and was pretty good so when I was around 18 I started going to the gym. I fought about 13 fights as an amateur before I turned pro last year.
PK: You started off your pro career strong, then had a set back at the Blue Horizon a while back. What happened that night?
GR: It was definitely a setback, but a learning one most of all. I thought I was winning that fight; I am used to fighting people who will sit there and fight and not run. The kid pitty patted me all night and wouldn’t fight, but hey, it was good enough for him to win, so God Bless him. I ain’t the one to make excuses, I lost, regardless of why, but its cool, It’s all part of the learning process and it is something that is definitely making me train harder, and rest assured, IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!
PK: You bounced back real strong though and now here you are getting ready for your first fight as the headliner; does this put any added pressure on you?
GR: Not at all this is what I live for. I am not the type to wilt under pressure at all, I actually thrive off of it.
PK: You mentioned you always loved boxing, was there anyone you liked as you were coming up or whose style you try to emulate?
GR: I’d have to say Trinidad. Tito was an action packed fighter and fought the best guys out there.
PK: How would you describe your style in the ring?
GR: I am attacker, a crowd pleaser. I am the type who loves to fight. I like to bang and I like to box and get the crowd into it. I am not afraid of anyone.
PK: Where do you train?
GR: I have been training down at Shuler’s gym, sparring with Jamal Davis, Big Poppa and some other guys over there. I been getting some good work over there, and I definitely want to shoot out to my people’s over there, Buster, Tyson, Sharron, Brother Nazim Richardson, Champ and the Chambers team too.
PK: What is your goal as a fighter?
GR: I want to be the champ no doubt about it
PK: Anything you want to add to close the interview:
GR: I just want to thank my fans and family for all their support, especially my team, Ty McNeil, My manager, Greg Robinson, My Promoter, and of course the rest of the power team, Big Poppa, Too Sweet, Moz, and of course my Dad Chino, I love you pops. I am gonna keep putting on good fights and giving the fans what they spend their hard earned money on. Oh yeah, and Harry Yorgey man up dawg, you are 17 – 0, don’t go fighting someone who is 14 – 22, pick on someone your own size, hint hint! Thanks for having me on Keith, it’s been a pleasure.
Best of luck to you Gabe in taking Power Productions to the promised land!

What a joke Does this kid realize yorgey will whip his ass!!!! Word of advise king until you beat anyone half decent please dont talk about the best fighters in the city...
WORD IS YOU CAUGHT A BEATING IN THE GYM FROM CHAMP FOR TALKING SMACK SO MUCH FOR CATCHING PUNCHES AND STAYING IN THE POCKET
if you think yorgey is that good THEN MAN UP!!!!! IN PHILLY THAT MEAN'S LET'S FIGHT!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEAN'S IN BRIGDEPORT?????? GABRIEL IS 4 REAL!!!!!!!!!
FROM TEAM BRUNELLI!!!!!
Let the record speak for itself. Yorgey has already stepped up, and is still undefeated. You're fightin' nobodies, and have lost to one. I commend your determination, but you really are not even on Harry's radar at this point. I wouldn't run your mouth until you're done building up your record. By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if your opponent changes for the 23rd. Don't let Onyango's record fool you. He has been in there with some very tough fighters, and gone the distance. In fact, there's probably a better chance your opponent will change than you actually beating Onyango. Your ranking is 164, and Onyango's is 304. I rest my case.
Hey there's a guy Kenneth Mcbride out there. He's ranked 980 out of 979???? Yes, he's ranked lower than there are actual fighters in your division. Maybe he'll help you build up your record?
shit I like the idea of Rosado and Yorgey. Bring it on!!
The problem with these 2 fighting is the financial impact. Rosado can't afford another loss, and Yorgey has nothing to prove by fighting him. Yorgey has already fought tougher competition. This would be a great local attraction, don't get me wrong, but the long term benefits are minimum. Philly fighters should be calling out NYC, Detroit, and any other city that thinks they're the new mecca of boxing. After these 2 beat everyone else, then have a larger hometown attraction. At least that's the way I look at it. If anything, they should be sparring and working with each other to achieve a common goal. Unless the long term goal is just another local pug who puts on a good show.
Well, Rosado is obviously not a threat to any real contender in the light middleweight division. I was right from the get go. I guess he should now fire the guy who said this match would be good for him. Blame everyone but himself.
IS GABBY BACK WITH BILLY BRISCOE? HE LOOKED LIEK HIS OLD SELF BEATING HICKS AT THE ARMORY. HE KICKED THAT BOULS ASS.
GABY IS BACK WITH BILLY BRISCOE NOW FOR ABOUT A MOUNTH AND A HALF BEFOR THE HICKS FIGHT HE IS GETINIG BACK TO WHAT HE DOES BEST BOXING AND USEING THE RING HE STOPPED HICKS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS CARREER WITH EASE WITH POWER BOXING DID YOU ALL SEE THE WAY HE SET UP AND PLACED THOSE BODY SHOTS AND (RUN)PUT THOSE COMBONATIONS TOGETHER A THING OF BEAUTY PEACE
I know Gabriel, he's a good kid and I don't think he even said anything about Yorgey. This kid has talent. He trains hard and is disciplined. If he continues training like he does, this kids going to be a champ someday.
